ViewEffective November 1st, 2023, all water bills will be due on the 15th of every month and water meters will be disconnected effective the 16th of every month (unless it falls on a weekend or on a Costa Rican National Holiday).
ViewDrinking water rates are set-out by the Government of Costa Rica (AyA) and are billed at the beginning of every month on a sliding scale depending upon your usage. All lots under construction are billed as Commercial and you must submit a request to have it changed to Residential once the build is complete. There is one exception to this rule ... if your house is not your primary residence and it is being rented out, then it will be billed at the Commercial rate.
ViewIt's that time of year again where irrigation systems are turned back on. Please take the time or ask your gardeners to meticulously check your water lines to make sure that there are no leaks. If the lines or irrigation heads look worn or nearing the end of life, then you may want to consider replacing them sooner rather than later. This can cause a huge increase in your water bills. Also, it doesn't hurt to do a quick inspection of your other water lines just to make sure that it's all operating as expected.
